Stereo Mastering Info

This is a list to be referenced as steps to ensure the easiest process for your project. These are suggestions, but not required.

  • Any headroom level is accepted. Please send whatever mix has been approved by everyone. If you would like to include both limited and unlimited, please do.

  • For Apple Digital Masters, it is best to record and mix the project at 96K(minimum)/32-bit resolution, 48K/24-bit is fine as well.

  • Files should only be .Wav, .aiff, DSD/DXD. Please reframe submitting MP3 or .M4A files if possible. However, we understand sometimes data loss happens and there isn’t access to a lossless mix file.

  • No start & end fades on the final printed mix.

  • Leave 2-3 seconds of running time or “handles” at the start and end of the printed mix.

  • Make sure everyone involved has approved the mix(es).

  • For stem mastering, all stems timecoded and have the same clip length.

  • If you are unsure which mix version to use, send multiple versions with the difference in the file name. Ex: ProjectName-ArtistName-48K-24bit-VocalUp

  • Label your files properly. Ex: ProjectName-ArtistName-48K-24bit-Main / ProjectName-ArtistName-48K-24bit-Instrumental

  • Turn off dithering.

  • Turn off normalizing.

  • Disable any metering plugins.

  • Bounce at the same sample rate & bit-depth the song was recorded and mixed at.

  • Stereo or interleaved files only, unless the project is in mono.

  • Include ISRC codes, UPC/EAN, Metadata, and album art if you would like them encoded in the master.

  • Add any notes, reference tracks, recommendations, or any input you have about your project.

  • Bounce and send it to your projects dedicated mastering engineer.
